Scaredy Dave Episode 2 update, Suggest a Game!

Posted by ScaredyDave - January 2nd, 2014

Hey there Spooksters!

Happy New Year! Over my vacation I stopped by a Disc Replay and bought Haunting Ground for PS2. (which is basically the spiritual successor to the Clock Tower franchise due to Capcom buying the IP and RUNNING IT STRAIGHT INTO THE GROUND. I hear Haunting Ground fixes this though and is supposed to be a great game.) So maybe Ill live stream that for the show sometime.

Otherwise, Outlast is going to be what "Scaredy Dave Episode 2: Ghosts Gone Wild" is loosely based on. I have a few important life changes coming up in two weeks, so it may take me a bit to get into the swing of animating Episode 2, but fret not, its planned and its still happening, just have some patience.

But on Outlast, maybe I wont do it? Heres where your suggestions come in. Outlast seemed cool, Ive never played it so it should get some great reactions out of me, however I think its a little too.... mainstream (#hipster). Episode 2 is half written, the general idea of it is this:

After finding out his neighbor doesnt exist, Dave begins to suspect his apartment is haunted. He wants to see what happens when he goes to sleep, so he sets up a camera to record himself, Paranormal Activity style.

Now episodes of Scaredy Dave are loosely based on games I Lets Play on the Youtube channel, either references or some monsters/characters happen in the animated portion. So to keep in theme with the episode, I need to play a game that involves recording/taking pictures of Ghosts or Hauntings. Lesser known games I prefer, they tend to take bigger risks and have more originality to them. I unfortunately can NOT play the game "Paranormal" and here's why:

I already played it and recorded it... Paranormal is a game that HEAVILY relies on it being your first experience through, if you know the scares its not as fun anymore. I DID play through and beat Paranormal once and recorded myself doing so, however the recording is older. My Clock Tower recording was way old too, made waaaayyyyy back in like April 2013, and at that time I had no intention of making this animated show/Lets Play with it, so if you were one of the brave few who watched the Clock Tower Lets Play portions on Youtube, I apologize. It was literally just me and my friends hanging out while I played it. Paranormal is SLIGHTLY more professional than that, however it would be about the same quality. That is why I want to play a brand new game and make a brand new recording, I feel like on Youtube I lost 90% of my audience thanks to the Clock Tower Lets Play and its quality.

IF you guys think I should post my paranormal run through anyway (spoiler alert, I scream like a little bitch once, thats pretty entertaining lol) then I will edit it and throw it up on Youtube, should only be like 2 episodes long anyway because its a really short game. BUT if I do that then I would ALSO put ANOTHER game up alongside it.

Here's a list of games I could think of that involve cameras that I would be willing to try:

  • Outlast
  • Fatal Frame
  • Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly
  • Fatal Frame III: The Tormented (I would like to play this one the most, I played all the Fatal Frames a LONG time ago but this one was my favorite, its been so long that it would feel fresh again because I forgot basically all of it.)
  • Paranormal

Worst case scenario, if you dont like the Lets Play portion, whatever game is picked will also get referenced in the animation portion, so if you like that please still suggest!

Thanks guys! And again, if youd like more updates, like screenshots of the making of the animation or when I Livestream either the game or the making of the animation, please check out the Facebook Fan Page or Twitter!

Keep it spooky!
